Ford FG Falcon XR8 Review
The new series prefix "FG" to the eighth generation Falcon range heralds the arrival of the all-new Falcon line-up, and serves as a recognition of the strong heritage of the Fairmont Ghia plates and long term.
This recognition is also reflected by the introduction of a new range of sports luxury G Series sedan, a model integrating the G6, G6E and G6E Turbo.
G6 is a nod to the board the name "Ghia" and is an extension of the G8 nomenclature used on the outgoing Fairlane range in recent years, while the "6" represents Falcon high-tech six-cylinder engine.
G6E builds on the nod to "Ghia" and the simple appreciation of style and European-inspired design elements clearly separate the new vehicle, while G6E Turbo announces the introduction of I6 Turbo engine hailed as the new hero of the sports luxury line-up.
Ford FG Falcon XT
With a focus on interior appointments and safety features, the Falcon XT raises the bar for entry-level customers and fleet buyers of private vehicles. For the first time on Falcon, it will have its own appearance and distinctly different from the rest of the range.
XT comes with a choice of either petrol engine producing 195 kilowatts of power and 391Nm of torque I6 according to a new five-speed automatic with Sequential Sports Shift (SSS), or an optional 156kW E-Gas LPG engine with a special four-speed SSS auto. The ZF six-speed automatic optional on the I6 petrol engine.
Standard interior fittings include automatic air conditioning, power drivers seat four-lane, four-speaker single CD audio system, a new, large Interior Command Centre (ICC) LCD screen, cruise control and rear seat 60/40 split rear seats.
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is standard on all petrol models, while the XT also has driver and front passenger airbags, front side head / thorax airbags and driver and passenger Beltminder.
Ford FG Falcon G6
The entry G Series model, the G6 raises the bar for savvy luxury buyer with a variety of standard features other than those in the Falcon XT. These include unique bumpers and grill G Series front, front fog lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels with plush interior, including leather seat bolsters and rear center armrest with cup holders. G6 also incorporates luxury sports suspension, on the security front, reverse sensing system as standard equipment.
Ford FG Falcon G6E
G6E builds on the history of the luxury G Series even further, adding to the standard G6 specification with a variety of features to give the word luxury G Series variant. Standard G6E features include the renowned ZF six-speed automatic, with a side indicator integrated into the exterior mirror housing, front fender badges, 17-inch alloy wheels and a unique G6E front grille.
The interior adds a Bluetooth cell phone integration, premium audio system with seven-inch TFT color display ICC, six-disc in-dash CD player and subwoofer, an electrochromic mirror rear vision, bi-zone automatic climate control, leather seats and electric conductors in the eighth position of the seat with three memory positions. On the security front, G6E adds a reverse camera and side curtain airbags as standard equipment.
Ford FG Falcon G6E Turbo
The new hero of the sports luxury Falcon line-up, the G6E Turbo is differentiated from the G6E by a variety of performance-oriented features, including the I6 Turbo engine that produces 270kW power and 533Nm of torque, adapted to the ZF six-automatic transmission. The new 18-inch alloy wheels rear spoiler and fog lamps glass complete the unique exterior elements, while the 19-inch alloy wheels are available as options.
Interior differentiation includes fabric wrapped door trim lower and an iPod integration feature that provides an integrated interface between the customers iPod unit and the vehicles audio system.
Ford Falcon FG XR6Ford FG Falcon XR range continues to build on the elements of a strong and distinctive design have contributed to the cult status enjoyed by XR vehicles. XR6 incorporates a number of features in addition to the Falcon XT, including a new Tremec six-speed manual transmission as standard - with the option for a five-speed automatic transmission or six-speed ZF automatic transmissions - and sports suspension.
The exterior is distinguished by the signature XR discontinuation Headlight Lens doubles, XR front bumper, grille and rockers, front fog lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the XR6 features sports instrument cluster, sports seats, alloy pedal covers and an aluminum shifter on models with manual transmission, with reverse camera and reverse detection system is optional.
Ford FG Falcon XR6 Turbo
In recognition of its status as an open sport, XR6 Turbo will - for the first time - be specified to the same level as the XR8, the main difference between the two models into the engine.
Ford FG Falcon XR6 Turbo builds on the equipment levels of the XR6 with a range of performance and comfort-oriented features, including one kilowatt 270 / 533 Nm I6 Turbo engine, limited slip differential, updated front brakes and 18-inch alloy wheels. World-class ZF six-speed automatic is optional.
Ford FG Falcon XR8
The XR8 of major equipment specifications with the XR6 Turbo and is differentiated by the signature of the engine and the bonnet power bulge. Interesting boss 290 4.5-liter four-valve V8 engine moves to the XR8 with the introduction of the FG Falcon and is equipped with a new exhaust system with semi-active muffler (SAM). The new exhaust system produces V8, sporty exhaust note while offering unmatched interior environment that is more subtle.
A thick 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels are optionally available on all XR models.
